E1 Series Championship – Monaco
Wednesday 27th April 2022. Under the aegis of the collective Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting brand, innovation is at the heart of debates at YCM. Hence why it was at Yacht Club de Monaco, in an event attended by YCM President HSH Prince Albert II that the new RaceBird electric powerboat prototype, set to line up on the start of a dedicated E1 Series Championship in 2023, was presented.
The 7m all-carbon single-seater weighing 800kg is fitted with foils to minimise drag and guarantee speeds topping out at 50 knots. The RaceBird also has a rear wing adjustable in mid-flight, capable of generating downforce on very tight turns.
It is powered by an electric engine developed by Mercury Racing, capable of supplying 150kW at peak powered by a 35kWh Kreisel battery.
Trials should take place this winter before the first E1 Series Championship in 2023. Up to 12 boats will compete in a knock-out time trial format on a circuit of ten stages, one of which will be in Monaco.
