Smeralda 888 – Corsica Cup – Calvi
Sunday 4th June 2023. The Smeralda 888 fleet was in Calvi in Corsica for the third stage of their 2023 Championship. Eight boats completed eight races with the suspense holding out to the end except for the overall winner, as the standard of racing is so level in this fleet. Boosted by winning the first race, Yacht Club de Monaco’s Achille Onorata led his Canard à l’orange in a faultless performance to win the event ten points ahead of his nearest rivals. Class President Charles de Bourbon des Deux-Siciles (Vamos mi Amor) came 4th ahead of Emmanuel Santelli (Ville de Calvi) 5th, Paolo Rotelli (Black Star) 6th and Timofey Sukhotin (Beda) 7th. Crews will be back out on the water 6-9 July for the fourth stage in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.
