TP52 – Rolex TP52 World Championship – Barcelona
Saturday 26th August 2023. It was a particularly nerve-wracking World Championship, reduced to three days of racing due to lack of wind at the start. In light breezes on a flat sea in Barcelona, speeds attained by the homogenous fleet of TP52s were super close. As predicted by all the contestants, changes in positions were counted in metres lost or gained which ensured a great show by the 52-footers during eight races as the gaps were so narrow. Yacht Club de Monaco’s Federico Michetti was 5th on Quantum Racing American Magic ahead of another YCM member, Andres Soriano on his Alegre by one small point. The TP52s will be back on the water 18-23 September in Spain for the finale of the 2023 season at the Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week.
