Mediterranean Championship – Hyères – 22-23 February 2020
Sunday 23rd February 2020. The Yacht Club de Monaco’s Laser team were in Hyères at the weekend for the first event of the 2020 Mediterranean Championship which attracted a field of 153 contestants from nine nations. Ten sailors from the YCM made the trip, including Juan Casalone who put in a superb performance in the Standard to clinch 2nd place by winning all three races held on the final day in a 15-25 knot westerly. Jérémy Moutout was 10th ahead of Loïc Pompée in 14th, Robert McFarlane, 19th and Denis Lankin, 20th. In the Radials, Thomas Mangano finished 38th and Pierrik Devic 53rd, while in the Laser 4.7 Leo Boisvert posted a very honourable 8th place. Our young sailors from the Monaco Sports Academy, Bodhi van Der Linden and Ariadni Verevis finished 26th and 44th respectively, with Vlad Orlov 50th.
