Members of the Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section are set to challenge each other in the first Monaco E-Sailing Championship on the Virtual Regatta Inshore app. Thirty young sailors from the Competition Unit who normally compete in the Optimist, Nacra and Laser categories, their coaches and the entire team who supervise them are taking part in this 2.0 competition on J/70s.
Armed with their computer or smartphone, they are ready to immerse themselves in a regatta atmosphere via their screens. In groups of 20 contestants, they will meet every Sunday at 6.00pm during April to participate in the qualifying rounds, comprising nine races in total.
All will hope to do well enough to qualify for the grand finale on 26th April of four races that will decide the final rankings in gold, silver and bronze categories.
The top three who will have shown consistency and the best tactics will be recognised at a prize-giving party in the Yacht Club de Monaco as soon as normal service is resumed!
