Monaco Sevens Tournament 2021
Tuesday 9th February 2021. Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène attended an official presentation at the Yacht Club de Monaco of the Monaco Sevens 2021 rugby tournament. The virtual kick-off was given by rugby player Mathieu Bastareaud, French international and Ambassador for the presentation, after HSH Princess Charlène threw the rugby ball in a pass to her husband.
The tournament, to be held at the Louis II Stadium on 19-20 June 2021, is the men and women’s Rugby Seven qualifier event for the Olympic Games in Tokyo and will see 24 teams battling it out in the Principality. The two best women’s teams and best men’s team will then be heading to Japan this summer.
It is being organised with the support of the Monegasque Rugby Federation, the Monaco Government and institutional partners.
To coincide with this major event there will be a tournament for Sainte-Devote rugby children, organised by the Monegasque Rugby Federation with support from the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation.
The draw for Monaco Sevens 2021 takes place in the Principality end of April.
