RC44 Cup Marstrand – Sweden
30th June – 4th July
Sunday 4th July 2021. It was a case of strike while the iron’s hot for this 2nd meeting of the season for the 44-footer fleet who battled it out to the bitter end and enjoyed it! Everything was up for grabs before the start of the final race as five of the eight boats competing were in with a chance of victory in a regatta that was finally won by Team Aqua with YCM junior member Lucas Frederiksen on board. Nico Poons (Charisma) finished 2nd equal on points with the leader, while Torbjorn Tornqvist (Artemis Racing) completed the podium in 3rd. “We were so close to winning the whole regatta,” said Torbjorn. “We had a lot to do after the Portorož stage so I am happy with our current situation,” he concluded.
Only six points separated the contenders at the end of the regatta, enough to keep the suspense going for the rest of the season which continues in Cowes, England, for the circuit’s third stage (11-15 August).
