Argynne III wins Grimaldi Trophy in her class

With three races and three victories, there was little room for suspense in the Vele d’Epoca group. After the first win on Friday between Sanremo and Cala del Forte, the yacht repeated the feat on Saturday and then again on Sunday on the final leg back to Sanremo.  With a total of three points, Argynne III won the Grimaldi Trophy in her class ahead of Patience.

In ORC 2, Vega also claimed a spot on the podium alongside K’Mena. Francesco Orlando started with a 5th place before winning the second leg and topping that off with 3rd place on the Monaco-Sanremo leg. As a result, he was on the second step of the podium ahead of Eric Muller and his K’Mena, both representing YCM. In IRC K’Mena was at the foot of the podium in 4th place.

Yacht Club de Monaco members in action

Andrea Statari and Gorilla Gang finished 5th in ORC 1 after three races and 5-6-5 positions, and the same ranking in IRC. In IRC, Karacool crewed by Philippe Lemarchand and Pierre Bouchet (from the Club’s Flotte des Commissaires) with Thierry Leret from the YCM’s Sports Section, came 9th just behind Argynne III.

YCM member Massimo Sorli on Melissa II finished 3rd in the Altura ranking. Another entrant competing under the Monaco flag was Alain Mazzoleni who clinched 4th in the Rating FIV category with Alcyon 3. He proved consistent throughout the weekend to secure 3rd places in the first and then last race to end on 11 points.

This year all were able to complete the whole race, starting on Friday in Sanremo to Cala del Forte and then on to Monaco on the Saturday. The final leg back to Sanremo was on Sunday. The Grimaldi Trophy also kicked off the 43rd West Liguria Winter Championship 2026/2027. The next event is 7-8 November in Sanremo with the Autunno in Regata. Meanwhile at the Yacht Club de Monaco, sailors will be back out on the water from 5-8 November for Act 1 of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series held from November to March.
