Four YCM sailors compete in Barcelona

YCM faced a strong European field in the Hansa 303 class. Four sailors from Monaco were in action in back-to-back races on the race area off Barcelona. Christiane-Eugénie Gautier, Nicolas Lelu, Marco Stevenazzi and Alexandre Richard represented Yacht Club de Monaco among the 71 sailors from 13 nations who descended on Barcelona for the event. The four contestants were racing in both the single-handed and double-handed categories against a particularly competitive fleet.

YCM faces strong European field in Hansa 303

The level was high and the wind was a major factor. Depending on the day, competitors sailed in 10 to 15 knots with gusts nudging up to 18 knots. Choppy Barcelona waters, a Mediterranean swell and currents added up to a technical course that really put the crews to the test.

In the Hansa 303 solo category, 71 contestants took the start, with Nicolas Lelu snatching 24^th place just ahead of Marco Stevenazzi in 25^th and Alexandre Richard 28^th. Christiane-Eugénie Gautier ranked 60^th.

The double-handed races also gave two YCM teams the opportunity to show their full potential. Nicolas Lelu and Alexandre Richard finished 25^th out of the 65 entrants, while Christiane-Eugénie Gautier and Marco Stevenazzi finished 26^th.

Beyond the rankings, this week in Spain gave YCM sailors an opportunity to sail in a large international fleet over several days of competition in stronger winds. It was also a platform to promote the upcoming Monaco Hansa 303 event to crews gathered in Barcelona.

Countdown to the 4th Navicap Challenge-Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy

From 4 to 6 December 2026, Yacht Club de Monaco hosts the 4^thNavicap Challenge-Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy., which takes place straight after the annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December.

The same principle applies which is to bring together experienced racers, amateur sailors, able-bodied sailors and those with a disability to compete on equal terms, on the same courses.

In Barcelona, YCM was facing a strong European field in Hansa 303 and the Monegasque team took every opportunity to promote the event among international crews. Next stop: Monaco in December.
