7th Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series
Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series, with 45 teams from 13 nationalities making the trip to compete on the Monegasque race area. This is the stage for an exceptional meeting in October 2021 with the class World Championship, but meanwhile, teams from all over the world rigged up in the Principality.
An unstable 5-12 knot westerly meant the two races completed were incredibly tense, with wind shifts proving unsettling for many. It was enough to shake up the ranking established after the first two Acts in November and December.
As a result, Ludovico Fassitelli (Junda) from the Yacht Club de Monaco finds himself 11th in the provisional ranking this evening, with a win and 24th place. On the other hand, the Corinthians (all-amateur team) on Brutus dominated the day. The English showed exemplary consistency to clinch 2nd in both races and they now lead the fleet.
Poised to rise up the leaderboard, Russian Valeriya Kovalenko and her men on Arttube are lying 2nd this evening after an 8th and a win, enough for this two-time season winner of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series’ team to sleep well. Completing the provisional podium are the Swiss on Quarter2eleven led by Nick Zeltner, with the YCM’s Nico Poons (Charisma V) in 4th.
Racing starts again tomorrow at 11.00am.
