To close the season, H.S.H. Prince Albert II honors the Club’s sailors at the YCM Awards, which feature the UBS Trophy and reward young competitors from the Sports Section, as well as member sailors and helmsmen who sail at the highest level.
Prizes are awarded in two categories: the YCM Youth Awards for young competitors in the Sportive Section (Optimist, ILCA and Kite categories) and the YCM Awards for members who have best defended the Club’s colors during the regatta season.
The award is presented to owners/helmsmen who have brilliantly defended the colors of the Yacht Club de Monaco, based on the results submitted by members, underlining their commitment and excellence in competition.
The YCM Awards voting system reflects a balance between the involvement of Club members (50%), the general public (25%) and the Sports Section (25%), in order to reward racers in a fair and representative way.
The YCM Awards-Trophée UBS is an annual ceremony organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco. It honours sporting and nautical achievements and deserving Club members, thereby reaffirming the values of yachting excellence, innovation and sustainability.
The main UBS Award is for owner-members of the Yacht Club de Monaco who have achieved outstanding results during the season. There is also a youth sailing category to recognise and reward talented youngsters in Monaco.
The ceremony takes place at the Yacht Club de Monaco every year in December and is attended by the Club President, HSH Prince Albert II.
The selection criteria for the main award are as follows:
- To be an Active or Associate member
- To have achieved at least three significant results during the year
- To have participated in regattas on board, ideally as the helmsman
- To be registered under the YCM flag
- To display the MON number on the sail
- Participation in regattas organised by the Club is also an asset for selection.
For the winners it represents prestigious recognition by their Club. For the Yacht Club de Monaco it’s about showcasing members’ achievements, enhancing its image as a centre of excellence for international yachting and promoting its collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach. The YCM Awards-Trophée UBS is a way to highlight both the members’ results and the Club’s strategic ambition.
The ceremony is covered by specialist media and the Club’s press relations department. Results, photos and videos are published on the Yacht Club de Monaco’s official website and associated social media channels.
