Since its creation in 2005 on the initiative of Angelo Randazzo, President of the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, the Palermo-Montecarlo has quickly established itself as a major classic in the Mediterranean. Since 2016, it has been included in the calendar of the International Maxi Association (IMA), alongside the Rolex Middle Sea Race, the Volcano Race and the Rolex Giraglia.

For the most seasoned sailors, like Mauro Pelaschier, Jochen Schümann, Francesco Bruni, Philippe Monnet and Brad Butterworth, four-time winner of the America’s Cup, it’s a race against the clock to conquer a record; for others, it’s a real adventure lasting several days and nights at sea to be enjoyed with the family.

From seasoned racers to sailors with disabilities and able-bodied participants, the Navicap Challenge – Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy brings everyone together on Monegasque waters.
Organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco, the event reflects the Y.C.M.’s commitment to making sailing more inclusive, accessible, and open to all.
Since 2022, thanks to the generosity of donor member Mrs. Sivoldaeva, this commitment has been reinforced with the addition of an AIRA 22, three Hansa 303s, and an Echo 90 to the Club’s fleet. One of the Hansa 303s was funded with the support of the Rotary Club of Monaco.
