The Yacht Club de Monaco, renowned for its excellence, has brought together the biggest names in sailing through iconic competitions. By organizing some of the most renowned international sailing competitions, the club has established itself as a key player in the global yachting scene.
The 2024 Optimist European Team Racing Championship is a sporting event organized by the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) in collaboration with the Yacht Club de Monaco.
23 nations, 90 boats, more than 400 sailors, and a lineup worthy of the wildest dreams made up the menu for the J/70 World Championship, organized for the first time by the Y.C.M., in collaboration with the international J/70 class. The event was won by Découvertes Geomod of Swiss Killian Wagen, ahead of Leonteq led by Monegasque Pierrik Devic, who clinched the title of vice-world champion at home.
60 J/70 crews lined up at the start of the first European championship of the series recognized by ISAF, organized by the Y.C.M., in collaboration with the J/70 Monaco Class Association. Open to crews from around the world, this “Open” championship crowned the Italian Luca Domenici on Notaro Team.
Organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco in partnership with SLAM and FxPro, the Open 470 European Championship, an Olympic series for women and men, brought together 90 crews from 26 nationalities. In the women’s category, the Dutch duo Afrodite Zegers and Anneloes van Veen take the prize. The Swedish pair consisting of Carl-Fredrik Fock / Marcus Dackhammar wins the title in the men’s category.
With 70 one-design boats, the Y.C.M. gathered the largest European fleet ever assembled since the 90s, on the occasion of the “Open” European Championship of J/24; 20 years after the first edition in the Principality.
The Y.C.M. is organizing its first European J/24 Championship, which records a record participation of 106 boats. With a length of 7.32 meters and a sail area of 24.50 m², the J/24 is the most widely used monotype (all identical boats) with a cabin in the world at that time.
81 double crews representing fifteen nations participated in Monaco in this Open European Championship of the Star, which counted for the first qualifying phase for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
The competition, initiated by Jochen Schwarz, former vice-president of the international Star Class, took place under demanding conditions that tested the technical skills of the participants.
