YCM’s inclusive sailing programme continues to gain momentum and grow with a strong presence at the Hansa North Cup in Berck 4-6 April. At a venue the participants know well, in a crowded fleet of 52 entrants, the Monegasque representatives rose to the occasion, demonstrating the group’s progress and cohesion.
On the water, a rhythm was quickly established. The consistent level of competition and closely contested starts meant gaps rarely opened up. In Hansa 303 everything hinges on the details and above all coordination. In this format where mixed crews are competing side by side they need to be constantly adapting.
The two teams from Yacht Club de Monaco lived up to expectations. Out of 52 entrants, the two boats finished in the Gold group after a consistent performance throughout the regatta. Christiane Gautier and Marco Stevenazzi pulled off 10th place, while Nicolas Lelu and Alexandre Richard came just ahead in 9th position.
This type of event is not just about the results. It builds team cohesion, improves automatic reflexes and boosts confidence. Clearly inclusive sailing at YCM is building momentum and moving forward with a clear objective: to make the sport available to all, structure the training programme and enable everyone, be they able-bodied or have a disability, to find their place on the water. All the work put in is now paying off at regattas as teams prove they can compete and shine in the long-term.
The season culminates in the Navicap Challenge-Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy, now in its 4th edition, which takes place 4-6 December 2026. A European regatta on Hansa 303s it is already established as a highlight on the inclusive sailing calendar. It illustrates YCM’s commitment to ensuring the long-term future for inclusive sailing by bringing together sailors, mixed crews and enthusiasts around the same goal: to sail together without distinction.
