Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series – Act I 3-6 November 2022
Saturday 5th November 2022. Same race area but different conditions for the second day of this first act of the 10th Monaco Sportsboat Series, with the same south-westerly but more moderate. A great opportunity for the 28 teams to make a mark with four back to back races completed.
Excellence all round
It was a picture postcard day in the Mediterranean with intense blue skies, no troublesome chop and a nice 8-10 knot breeze. Ideal conditions to fine tune clean controlled starts, mark roundings and tacks with everyone relishing a great day of racing.
Fassitelli pulls ahead of rivals
While some may have lost the plot, others like YCM’s Ludovico Fassitelli (Junda) demonstrated marathon runner like qualities. The J/70 Worlds Vice-Champion (One Pro category) pulled off a string of steady results – 2, 3, 1, 3 – to put him five points ahead of his nearest rival, another YCM member Stefano Roberti (Piccinina) at the top of the leaderboard. The French Sage Engineers crew complete the provisional ranking in 3rd place.
The last day looks set to be a nail-biter for the many teams still in contention for a podium place, as Monaco’s bay could again be the scene of a final twist to upset the rankings.
Rendezvous at 11.00am for the first warning signal to find out the epilogue of this first act of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series 2022/2023.
