ILCA – France Espoir Championship – La Rochelle
Thursday 24th August 2023. YCM’s young Mathis Duplomb left La Rochelle with a silver gong round his neck. After a week of intense racing, the Yacht Club de Monaco sailor kept up the pace against fierce competition. At the end of 12 races, six of which he was in the top three, Mathis clinched the French Vice-Champion title in ILCA 6. Leading the fleet at one point in the same category, Noah Garcia pulled out all the stops to capitalise, but unstable conditions on the last day frustrated his ambition and he finished 4th just one point adrift of a bronze medal. In ILCA 7, Bodhi Van der Linden was hot on the heels of his opponents with some good results, finally finishing 6th ahead of Davide Marino, 15th. Finally, in the girls, Louise Debeaumont also had some good races, flirting with the top of the leaderboard and finishing 11th overall.
