Competing in the second stage of the RS21 Italian circuit, the Yacht Club de Monaco member finished 6th aboard Era L’Ora after six races against 19 competitors. Meanwhile, Anatoli Karatchinski and Path RS came 15th overall at this Sicilian race venue.

The level in this class remained remarkably consistent throughout the weekend. With 19 teams competing and six races validated, this second stage of the RS21 Yamamay Cup again showed how competitive this Italian circuit is now. Aboard Era L’Ora, Matteo Di Maio stayed in contention with the leading group throughout the event.

 

A technically difficult venue in Sicily

Located near Palermo, the Sferracavallo race venue is renowned for pressure variations and the effects generated by the geographic location. Teams had to contend with changeable conditions and to constantly adapt to them on the water. On this type of one design where the boats performances are so similar, reading the water and pin-sharp quality manoeuvres make the difference.

Two YCM teams compete on RS21 circuit

Yacht Club de Monaco was represented by two teams for this Italian stage. Matteo Di Maio remains in contention with the top five after pulling off a well-deserved 6th place on Era L’Ora, while Anatoli Karatchinski on Path RS finished 15th after six races. The RS21 circuit continues to attract teams from several countries, with its format that prioritises consistency and the intensity of one-on-one battles in a compact fleet.

Time now for Torbole and the next event

After Sferracavallo, teams head for Torbole and Lake Garda for the next stop on the circuit, 12-14 June and Act III of the 2026 season and RS21 Yamamay Cup.
