Superyacht owners were again welcomed warmly to Saint-Barthélemy. Breezy trade winds, choppy seas and brilliant sunshine were on the programme of the 2026 edition, ideal conditions for the international fleet which descended on the island for four days of racing. And once again, YCM was in the thick of it at this St Barths Bucket Regatta, with several members racing on board some of the most beautiful yachts present.
In the Maxi category, the battle between V, helmed by Yacht Club de Monaco member Karel Komarek, and Galateia was a fine spectacle at the regatta from the very first races. The two 100-footers delivered a close-fought duel around the island in the steady Caribbean conditions with trade winds up to 18 to 20 knots at times.
Thanks to a remarkably consistent performance, V topped the ranking after winning two of the three races.
In the Goélettes des Mers class, Atlantic with Nick Edmiston from YCM on board, also secured a good result finishing in 2nd place overall.
Due to strong winds and gusts exceeding permitted limits, the last day of racing planned off the coast of Gustavia was cancelled.
Before the regatta, the Yacht Club de Monaco extended its hospitality to the Caribbean by organising a party for its members and owners participating in the event, topping up the spirit of friendship and socialising for which the Bucket Regatta is renowned. Held on 11 March, the gathering brought together owners, sailors and guests in an atmosphere true to the Club’s values embodied in a passion for sailing and the pleasures of being together at a major international event.
Organised with the regatta organisers, the initiative reflects YCM’s commitment to supporting its members at big events on the circuit and keeping the Club spirit alive way beyond Monaco.
Year after year, YCM flies its flag high in the Caribbean be it in Antigua, Saint-Barthélemy or the big offshore events on the international calendar. At these regattas where Maxis, superyachts and crews from all the world gather, Club members confirm their enjoyment and commitment to top-end racing.
Launched in 1986, the Bucket Regatta retains a unique format where competition is synonymous with the sheer pleasure of sailing. Each class competes in a coastal race every day round courses set in the crystal clear waters of Saint-Barthélemy to test tactics, crew coordination and skills required to handle the extraordinary dimensions of some of these boats. Once again, YCM was in the thick of it at St Barths Bucket Regatta both at sea and ashore.
Dates have already been set for the next edition of this gathering, scheduled for 18-21 March 2027.
