Loïc Pompée secured an intergenerational win at the Porquerolle’s Race. At the helm of Terrible Joy in IRC 2, the Yacht Club de Monaco member had a perfect week winning all five races in his category. Their total domination of the waters off the Porquerolles was down to a crew of experience and youth, including Louise Debeaumont and Louis Pompée aboard the Monegasque Cape 31.
Consistency was the winner at this 2026 edition of the Porquerolle’s Race, where Terrible Joy did not make a mistake in IRC2. The result was five races, five victories and a first place achieved without any major setbacks against a fleet of 11 competitors. The Monegasque crew maintained the same level of intensity from start to finish. The Cape 31 confirmed its potential at a venue renowned for being challenging.
Beyond the result, this victory has another story to tell. Aboard Terrible Joy, several generations sail together in a dynamic that reflects the spirit of the Yacht Club de Monaco. Led by Loïc Pompée, the crew combines offshore experience and experienced sailors with budding young sailors who love racing. The presence of Louise Debeaumont and Louis Pompée illustrates this commitment to passing on knowledge and expertise on the water, not in classrooms ashore.
At the finish, Loïc Pompée secured an intergenerational victory clearly delighted after this week-long sailing masterclass: “It’s always a huge pleasure to race here. Porquerolles is an idyllic place with an exceptional race venue and consistently top-notch organisation. This 2026 edition was particularly successful for us as we won all the races in IRC 2, so of course we are thrilled. Despite the sometimes tough conditions we really enjoyed this week,” he said, before concluding with an ambition for the future: “We’ll be back with pleasure next year and are going to try and get more Cape 31 boats to participate in this truly fantastic event”.
