Andrés Soriano wrapped up his 52 SUPER SERIES season in Valencia, the venue for the fifth and final leg of the 2026 championship, held 5-19 October. On Alegre, the Yacht Club de Monaco member finished 14th at Valencia Sailing Week, an event that attracted a record 16-strong fleet of TP52s representing 11 nations. This final showdown was won by Alkedo Cetilar, while Platoon Aviation claimed the season’s championship title.
For this final event, teams returned to a venue that hosted the 32nd America’s Cup, but this time it was the wind that gave them a hard time.
From the first races, changeable light wind conditions made life difficult for competitors. With 16 TP52s on the starting line, the slightest tactical error saw gaps quickly opening up in an often crowded field that left little room for mistakes.
For Alegre, the week began with two races finishing in 13th and 12th place. Andrés Soriano’s crew then followed up with a 10th place finish before achieving their best result in the fifth race in 4th.
Thursday 8 October had to be waited out ashore, as unstable light airs forced the Race Committee to keep the boats on standby on the quay. Competition resumed on the Friday with three more races, followed by a final race on Saturday in a light breeze. At the end of this final regatta, Alegre ranked 14th overall.
The final day also settled the contest between the title contenders. After a season defined by their duel with Takashi Okura’s Sled, Harm Müller-Spreer’s Platoon Aviation won the 2026 championship, finishing 30 points ahead of their rivals.
In Valencia it was Andrea Lacorte’s Alkedo Cetilar that triumphed. Having competed on the circuit for only two seasons, the Italian team won its first 52 SUPER SERIES regatta and finished 3rd in the annual championship.
For Andrés Soriano and Alegre, this Spanish stage concludes a five-event season that also raced in Mallorca, Porto Cervo and Lanzarote.
For Andrés Soriano this wraps up his 52 SUPER SERIES season in Valencia after a final showdown that fielded the largest fleet of the year.
