Since 1996, Voiles d’Antibes has opened the Mediterranean classic yacht season. It is one of the major fixtures on the AFYT (Association Française des Yachts de Tradition) and Comité National de la Méditerranée circuit, alongside Cannes, Monaco and the Italian and Spanish stages. For this 30th anniversary, the fleets enjoyed three races in typically Mediterranean conditions that meant the crews were able to showcase their beautiful boats on the water.

Encounter claims victory in IOR

In the IOR category of five contestants, YCM member Bart Weduwer pulled off the best Monegasque performance of the week. Aboard Encounter he secured a well-deserved victory overall against iconic boats after a series of well managed races. Sagittarius completed the podium in 3rd place in the overall ranking, confirming the competitiveness of the crews from Yacht Club de Monaco.

Argynne III in contention

Competing in the Marconi Gaff category, Argynne III finished 7th out of a fleet of eight contestants. A regular at classic yacht gatherings in the Mediterranean the 1955 Cornu-design continues her season at the major events on the calendar.

A major event on the Mediterranean circuit

Les Voiles d’Antibes holds a special place in the hearts of the classic yacht world as the opener. An event that echoes the biennial Monaco Classic Week-La Belle Classe launched in 1994 by Yacht Club de Monaco and which every two years brings together the most beautiful classic yacht fleets.
