Breath of fresh air in the ILCA class
The steady light westerly that set in about mid-day in Antibes was enough for the Race Committee to launch two races on a very short course for the 420s, Fireballs and ILCA class so the regatta counted. For his first event on a Laser, Antoine Sauval from Yacht Club de Monaco came 14th in ILCA 4 out of 22. In ILCA 6 Namu Van der Linden pulled off a worthy 8th place followed by Gabriel Superina in 9th.
Great start to the year for Yacht Club de Monaco
The ILCA fleet were to be found in Saint-Raphaël for the EurILCA Master, numbering around 60 sailors including a group from Yacht Club de Monaco. Depending on the category six or seven races were completed. Notable results included a hard-fought 2nd place for Pierrik Devic in the ILCA 6 Master Group and 6th for Denis Lankin while Robert McFarlane came 10th in the Grand Master ILCA 6
Leopard 3 wins Monohull Line Honours
After 10 days 17 hours 23 minutes and 51 second of racing, the Farr 100 Leopard 3 of Yacht Club de Monaco’s Joost Schuijff took Monohull Line Honours in the 10th RORC Transatlantic Race, also winning the IRC Super Zero category.
Having left Lanzarote in the Canaries on Sunday 7th January 2024, the 24-strong fleet representing ten nations headed to the finish line in Grenada in the Caribbean, a 3,000 nautical mile crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.
Turkey sweeps the board
Organised as part of the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, the 14th Monaco Optimist Team Race (https://yacht-club-monaco.mc/evenements/monaco-optimist-team-race/) concluded with a fine example of the importance of racing rules.
Faultless domination
It was an exciting third day under optimal conditions for the Monaco Optimist Team Race. With a lovely 7-10 knot southwesterly blowing, the 72 contestants in the 18 teams fought their tactical strategic duels with tenacity and the unique competitive spirit so characteristic of this format.
USA and Turkey neck and neck
It was all systems go for the 72 young sailors on the first day of racing at the Monaco Optimist Team Race. Organised by Yacht Club de Monaco with support from Monaco Marine, FxPro, sailing gear supplier SLAM, the Erplast boatyard and Peace and Sport, the event demands consistency, mastery of team racing rules and above all enthusiasm.
Malizia-Seaexplorer finishes 4th
After nine days 20 hours two minutes 41 seconds, Malizia-Seaexplorer helmed by Boris Herrmann from Yacht Club de Monaco finished 4th in this selective, qualifying solo challenge for the Vendée Globe 2024-2025.
A highly motivated group
As always there was a great atmosphere in the Yacht Club de Monaco’s Optimist team, out in force at the weekend for the 39th Meeting Internazionale del Mediterraneo with 12 competing. Nearly a hundred contestants turned out for three days of racing. In the older Minime group, Alexandra Santelli pulled off a very good 16th place ahead of Frederik Holst 21st followed by Océane Schroeder 22nd and Roman Lampert 33rd.
Two out of two for G-Spot
Monegasque Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot) is the winner this week of Act II of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series. Now in its 11th season, the programme of monthly regattas from November to March organised by Yacht Club de Monaco continues to offer an exceptional setting for teams from all over Europe who welcome it as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
Bronze Medal for Vladimir Prosikhin
Vladimir Prosikhin from Yacht Club de Monaco pulled off another fine performance in a major event. This time it was at the Melges 20 World Championship in Miami, a race venue the YCM member knows well, where he stood out from the competition.
