Cuordileone ended the season on the podium after the ClubSwan50 World Championship in Naples, an event that concluded a packed 2026 calendar. Eleven teams gathered for this final event including Cuordileone led by Leonardo Ferragamo sailing with Paul Cayard, both Yacht Club de Monaco members. After six races, the team finished 9th in ClubSwan50. As the overall ranking for The Nations League is based on four events, it was enough to secure Cuordileone an impressive 3rd place. Two other YCM members were also in the top 5 of their categories: Lorenzo Bortolotti (Black Swan), 2nd in the ClubSwan28, and Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot), 5th in the ClubSwan36 class.
In Naples the wind dictated the schedule for most of the event, with a big shift in wind direction forcing the Race Committee to suspend racing on the first day. The next day a thermal 8 to 10 knot breeze saw three races completed before another day of no racing due to lack of wind.
It all came down to the last day when the return of the Grecale wind allowed another three races to be run leaving several teams in contention for the title. EarlyBird skippered by Hendrik Brandis pulled ahead to retain their title from 2025, as the German team finished on 15 points.
For Leonardo Ferragamo, sailing with Paul Cayard on this occasion, their championship ended with a 9th place. It came despite coming 2nd in the second race at this last regatta that does not fully reflect 2026 for this team, as Cuordileone ended their season on the podium after this World Championship.
After four stages of The Nations League 2026 circuit, Cuordileone maintained their position in the top ClubSwan50 entries. With 30 points, Leonardo Ferragamo finished 3rd in the overall ranking behind the winner in this category, Hatari, and EarlyBird.
In ClubSwan28, Lorenzo Bortolotti (Black Swan) has also enjoyed a superb season. His boat’s 26 points earned him 2nd place in the overall standings behind Anya Race.
Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot) is also among Yacht Club de Monaco representatives to finish in the top 5 after racing his boat into 5th place in ClubSwan36.
The Napolitan event concludes a 2026 season that proved successful for several YCM members on the ClubSwan Racing circuit. After this final global showdown, attention is already turning to 2027 and a calendar set to start in Bonifacio in May.
