Team Monaco: top flight qualifier before a decisive final day

Spectators were treated to an impressive performance by the Monaco team. The fourth stage of the E1 Series in Monaco saw ten international teams in competition. After dominating Friday’s qualifying sessions, Team Monaco, comprising YCM member Maxime Nocher and Oban Duncan, finished 7th overall. Hosted by the Yacht Club de Monaco, it was the third time the event has been held in the Principality.

The home team hit the ground running, clocking the fastest time in the qualifiers.

Although a navigational error the following day forced them to compete in the Place Race, taking them out of contention to win, the fourth stage saw an impressive performance by the Monaco team.

Aboard their RaceBirds, a 7.5m all-carbon-fibre, electric one-design hydrofoil boat, teams put on a spectacular show on the sea off Monaco, with speeds touching nearly 50 knots as the boats and their pilots powered through their qualifying heats ahead of Saturday’s decisive races. 

Team Drogba Global Africa wins

Watched by YCM President HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, contestants gave it their all on the second and final day of racing. Team Drogba Global Africa, led by New Zealander Micah Wilkinson and Spaniard Tara Pacheco, ultimately won out to secure their first E1 victory.

Team Brady came 2nd ahead of Sports.com Predict Team Miami Powered by Magnus, which means the Tom Brady team tops the championship table nine points ahead of Westbrook Racing by Visit Angola.

With this event barely behind them teams already have their sights set on the next one in Luanda, Angola, 12-13 September.
