In Malcesine, Matteo Di Maio’s Era l’Ora reignited the suspense and his own title hopes by finishing 6th at the end of this fourth stage. Having won the weekend’s opening race, the result means the Yacht Club de Monaco sailor is still in contention ahead of the final showdown in Scarlino. Path, also sailing under the Club’s colours, leaves Lake Garda in 22nd place.
After a 6th place in the first two meetings and 15th in the previous stage, Matteo Di Maio arrived at this fourth event fired up and ready for battle. Weather conditions at the Italian venue also delivered. Famous for its steady winds it almost always guarantees the conditions needed to launch intense races.
The battle for podium spots was fiercely contested throughout the weekend, with Era l’Ora taking control from the start and proving dominant.
Always in contention with the leaders, the Monaco crew kept up the pace to finish this fourth stage in 6th place, leaving the championship and its predictions wide open for the finale. Meanwhile, Path helmed by Pavel Grachev under the Yacht Club de Monaco flag finished 22nd.
The final overall rankings have yet to be decided. Matteo Di Maio’s Era l’Ora has reignited the suspense, after returning to the top among the leaders in Malcesine, and remains very much in contention ahead of the season finale in Scarlino. Meanwhile, several international teams will meet for the class’s European Championship 23-26 July in Travemünde, Germany.
