With only four races completed and no results withdrawn, this Lerici stage offered few opportunities to rebuild a series of good race results after one challenging race. In contention throughout, Jolt 2 was competing at this J/70 Cup and finished 16th at an event where the conditions played as big a part as speed in the final result.

Jolt 2 was competing at a J/70 Cup regatta in erratic wind conditions

This Italian stage left little room for error either by the Race Committee or the crews. From the first day, an uncertain weather forecast prompted the organisers to run as many races as possible in case conditions deteriorated. This proved a wise decision, as after four races on the Friday, the wind almost died completely in Lerici. The second day was uneventful, while the final race attempt on the Sunday ended up being cancelled as conditions were too unstable. The overall ranking remained unchanged from the first day.

A consistently strong international fleet

Despite the absence of some top teams on the circuit, this second stage attracted crews representing eight nations. Several championship favourites were also present, including Andrey Pushkin’s Tenzor Team, already winner of the Garmin Cup and dominant from day one. Behind them, the gaps were tight throughout the four races completed.

A stage built on few races

A team part of a broader YCM initiative

Peter Harrison’s presence on the J/70 circuit is part of a broader initiative spearheaded by the Yacht Club de Monaco in recent seasons.  In 2025, the owner of the Jolt team played a significant role in the YCM’s historic victory at the Admiral’s Cup alongside YCM Vice-President Pierre Casiraghi and the crews on Jolt 3 (AC Class 1) and Jolt 6 (AC Class 2). This achievement was celebrated at the YCM Awards-UBS Trophy 2025 in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco in recognition of a campaign that has left an indelible mark on the Club’s sporting history.
