Nicolas Lelu confirms his consistency in tactically demanding conditions

The Belgium venue produced a particularly challenging weekend for the crews competing. A brisk steady wind, technical courses and an impressive 17 races meant contestants had to stay focused and pin sharp from start to finish. In Nieuwpoort, starts often dictated the rest of the races. Choosing the right side of the race area, ability to anticipate pressure variations and good positioning from the first tacks made the difference.

Excellent double-hander teamwork

In the double-hander category, Nicolas Lelu was teamed with Étienne Vilcot, a young sailor from the Club Nautique de Berck. Together they finished 7th out of the 19 teams competing. As the races progressed, the pair found their rhythm in a competitive fleet where gaps remained tight throughout the championship.

Keeping up the pace for 17 races

The particularly demanding format of this Belgium Sailability Cup meant contestants experienced a variety of racing and trimming situations over the three days. In the solo category, Nicolas Lelu also came 7th place out of 27 entrants, confirming yet again his ability to maintain his consistency for the duration on this boat.

Barcelona already in their sights

These promising results further build on the momentum behind this season in the Hansa 303 class at Yacht Club de Monaco. After competing in several national stages and international competitions already this year, Nicolas Lelu has confirmed his consistency and now has his sights set on the next objective, the European Championship in Barcelona 13-29 September. This will be an important event for the sailor, who continues to gain experience and be in contention with the best European specialists of this discipline.
