Trofeo Luigi Carpaneda – Alassio
Sunday 2nd April 2023. It was the second event of the season for the Smeralda 888 fleet which was out on the water in Alassio for the Trofeo Luigi Carpaneda (not part of the 2023 Championship for this class). Five fiercely contested races were completed for ten boats in conditions varying from 5 to 18 knots, with Vincenzo Onorato (Mascalzone Latino) emerging the winner ahead of his son Achille Onorato (Canard à l’Orange), both from Yacht Club de Monaco. Roberto Tamburelli (Botta Dritta) finished 4th, Timofey Sukhotin (Beda) 5th, Paolo Rotelli (Black Star) 8th and Andrea Statari (Gorilla Gang) 10th. Next up for the Smeralda 888s is Saint-Tropez 21-23 April where some 15 boats are expected for the second stage of the Championship.
