Another win for Joost Schuijff
RORC Caribbean 600 – Antigua
19-21 February 2024
Wednesday 21st February. Having topped the ranking in IRC Zero and taken Monohull Line Honours of the Antigua 360 Race, Joost Schuijff has just clinched another victory in the Caribbean, this time in the RORC Caribbean 600. After 2 days 1 hour 23 minutes 18 seconds of racing the Farr 100 crossed the finish first of this ninth edition. “I started helming Leopard 3 five or six years ago,” said Joost Schuijff. “After making some major changes including reducing the boat’s weight by 10 tonnes and installing a new mast, we are reaping the benefits of all our hard work. This was my second RORC Caribbean 600, we had 30-knot squalls so it was quite scary, but I really love this race. Sailing in the tropics is picturesque, the scenery is truly magnificent and racing against this type of competition is a perfect combination”. Leopard 3 led from the start, gaining a lead of around 30 nautical miles over its nearest competitor. The crew now have to wait for the rest of the fleet to arrive to know their corrected time for the IRC ranking.
