Raw potential
Optimist – 49e Trofeo Optimist d’Argento – Torbole
20-23 June
A delegation of 10 young sailors from Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section were on the starting lines of the 49th Trofeo Optimist d’Argento. An event that revealed the potential of the Principality’s young racers, with a special mention for the Benjamins (younger group) who tackled three races on Lake Garda with aplomb.
Pietro Carlevaris clinched a superb 7th place overall after a spectacular start to grab 3rd in the first race. A performance echoed in that of another in the group, Sacha Mousny who came 12th having got a taste of what it’s like to be in the leading pack when he came 4th in a great race. Victor Holst, Jules Huon and Anastasyia Verpeka finished the regatta in 32nd, 36th and 39th. In the older Minime group, five races set the pace for a 218-strong fleet that included Alexandra Santelli who came 67th in the gold group, while Océane Schroeder finished 29th in the silver. Joséphine Debbelaere also made the silver category in 63rd. Finally, Frederik Holst finished 15th in bronze ahead of Roman Lampert 26th.
