Beda the big winner
Smeralda 888 – Invitational 888 – Porto Cervo
27-30 June
The Smeralda 888 fleet were in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, 27-30 June for the Invitational 888 which is the third stage in their 2024 championship. Eight races were run for the eight teams in competition in sometimes strong wind conditions. This is a highly competitive class that leaves no room for error as every boat pays dearly for the slightest mistake. Timofey Sukhotin’s Beda won this regatta, a great result that puts his crew on the championship leaderboard. Marco Favale’s Millenium Falcon was 2nd followed by Charles Bourbon des Deux Siciles’ Vamos Mi Amor. Achille Onorato (Canard à l’Orange) came 5th ahead of Andrea Statari (Gorilla Gang) 7th and Matteo Noferi (Kzi Mo d’Eau) 8th. The Smeralda 888 fleet will be back racing again in Porto Cervo at the Coppa Europa 12-14 July, where 12 boats are expected for this fourth stage in the championship.a
