Navicap Challenge – Trophée Elena Sivoldaeva

The 2nd Navicap Challenge – Trophée Elena Sivoldaeva kicked off today in a moderate easterly. Organised by Yacht Club de Monaco, this inclusive regatta brings together able-bodied and people with a disability who all share a passion for sailing. With around 60 international sailors representing England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Monaco among others, the competition reflects a unique dynamic that combines sporting and human values.

All about sport yet festive

For three days, teams are competing on windward-leeward triangular courses at the foot of the Rocher. The first day started with the Round Robin qualifying phase when teams were divided in groups with two races per group completed. The final stages take place this weekend to rank them in the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Vermeil categories.

A colourful celebration

From the first day, the colourful sails of the Hansa 303s have lit up the bay of Monaco. These two-hander boats are specially designed for able-bodied and people with a disability to sail on an equal playing field. Whether beginners or experienced, participants can enjoy the pleasure of racing together against a spectacular backdrop where inclusion and exchange are at the heart of the event.

Fired by the adrenaline of the first stages, all are eager to resume the contest at 11.00am on Saturday 30 November.
