Throughout these events, Alegre has remained in contact with the best. Seven races were completed at the Lanzarote venue, the third stage of the circuit, where particularly demanding conditions put the 13 teams to the test. Andres Soriano, a Yacht Club de Monaco member, finished 8th following several solid races.
Won by the Paprec team after seven races, the event lived up to expectations. Currents, swell, wind shifts and gusts topping over 30 knots added spice to the action and kept the suspense level high in the TP52 class. With three 4th place finishes, Andres Soriano (Alegre) was battling at the front of the fleet, with an 8th place secured in a tight-finish at the top where several teams were separated by a few small points. It is a result that puts him in 10th place in the provisional ranking after three stages.
It was an eventful regatta to say the least. Challenging conditions took a heavy toll on crews and their boats. From the start during the warm-up race, the fleet got a taste of the weather conditions in store. The regatta highlighted the crews’ boat-handling skills and tuning abilities in demanding conditions.
The teams meet again in a couple of weeks, 24-29 August, for the Puerto Calero Lanzarote 52 Super Series Royal Cup. This penultimate event leads directly to the final which takes place in Valencia early October, giving Andres Soriano another opportunity to rack up points to ensure Alegre remains in contact with the best.
