13th RORC Caribbean 600 – 21-25 February 2022
Wednesday 23rd February. Over 700 sailors, 74 boats and 32 nations were on the start of the 13th RORC Caribbean 600, a 600 nautical mile course between 11 Caribbean islands. With a 15-knot northwesterly gusting 20 knots, the start set the tone – already it was spectacular!
After 1 day 16 hours 39 minutes and 51 seconds of racing, the Clubswan 125 Skorpios helmed by Dmitry Rybolovlev took line honours as the first monohull to cross the finish line in the early hours on Wednesday 23rd February at 03:59:51.
“It’s a fantastic win for Dmitry Rybolovlev who won this event on the Maxi Skorpios. The result echoes his triumph in last year’s Rolex Fastnet Race in the same category. We are very proud to count him as one of our racing sailing members who flies the flag of Yacht Club de Monaco and the Principality high at the most prestigious meetings,” said YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri. A superb result for someone passionate about sailing and competition.
YCM is also delighted to see another member at this event, Benoît De Froidmont, President of the IMA (International Maxi Association) who is still racing out there on the Class 40 Finimmo alongside Kito de Pavant.
