Optimist – Trofeo Optimist d’Argento – Torbole 24-26 June 2021

Saturday 26th June 2021. The Sports Section’s Optimist sailors were at the Trofeo Optimist d’Argento (Optimist Silver Trophy). After eight races in three days, the YCM team grabbed the chance to refine their skills at sea and ashore with Jean-Baptiste Bernaz. The professional Laser sailor, on route for the Tokyo Olympics and in Lake Garda for a preparation stage, popped in to give the new generation some valuable advice. In the Benjamins (12-13-year-olds), Alexandra Santelli pulled off an excellent 11th place. In the Minimes (13-15-year-olds) where the level was extremely high, Noah Garcia made it into the gold category. Matteo Asscher and Alexandre Pompée finished in silver while Namu van Der Linden, Ludovica Bonelli and Alessandro Asscher ranked in the bronze. The meeting was the final dress rehearsal for the World Championship which starts in a few days’ time on Lake Garda, and Yacht Club de Monaco’s young sailors will be there on the starting line.
