Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup – Porto Cervo
The 33rd Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup has just ended in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. Around 50 boats were competing in this high profile regatta organised by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in partnership with the International Maxi Association. For the first time in its history, the organisers invited the multihulls. Fast and powerful, they put on a show during the regatta famous for its inshore races. In this category, Sir Irvine Laidlaw from the Yacht Club de Monaco clinched 2nd place aboard his Highland Fling 18. In the Super Maxi, Claus Peter Offen (Y3K) also from YCM put in a superb performance to stand on the podium’s top step . Finally in the Maxi A, Leopard 3 representing Monaco finished 2nd with Benoît de Froidmont and his Wallyno coming 5th in the Maxi C.
