The Nations Leagues 2023 – Swan One Design Worlds & Swan MED Regatta – 10-14 October 2023
Saturday 14th October 2023. The Swan One Design Worlds and first ever Swan Med Regatta-The Tuscany Challenge saw some extremely close-run races up to the last minute, as the 2023 ClubSwan Racing season ended in spectacular fashion. Scarlino on the Tuscany coast was the venue for the Swan 36, Swan 42, Swan 45 and Swan 50 fleets for this season-ender with 25 nations represented and 36 teams turning out for the meeting. In the always hotly disputed ClubSwan 36 class, Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio’s G Spot from Yacht Club de Monaco beat the Italians on Far Star on the final very tactical race. In the overall ranking for the One Design season, G Spot topped the leaderboard to win the ClubSwan 36 trophy. In the ClubSwan 50 class, Leonardo Ferragamo’s Cuordileone also from YCM defended his world title won in Valence last year with two consecutive race wins on the first day. Finishes in the top three for all the other races ensured Cuordileone secured the 2023 title on the penultimate race 16 points ahead of Graeme Peterson’s Moonlight, who becomes world vice-champion. Class President Leonardo Ferragamo summed up his emotions: “I had a great crew, we were really in sync and got along well. We took this very seriously and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the result”.
