Rolex Middle Sea Race – Malta | 22-29 October 2022
Saturday 29th October 2022. Yacht Club de Monaco’s Joost Schuijff’s Farr 100 Leopard 3 crossed the finish line first in the 2022 Rolex Middle Sea Race on Tuesday 25th October to win Line Honours in 70 hours 34 minutes 29 seconds. After a superb start, Leopard 3 led the monohull fleet as far as Capo Passero and into the Strait of Messina. “The first night, winds were light. We were lucky to round Stromboli in the day and to see the lava flowing down the mountain. The sea was so blue and reflected in the hull,” said Joost Schultz at the helm. “Several times during the race, we had the impression we were at one with nature. There were many ups and downs and surprises, and I understand now why the crew on Leopard 3 were careful not to predict anything. This race is synonymous with twists and turns”. The Farr 100 kept their pursuers at bay before streaking away to victory.
