Swan – The Nations League – Porto Cervo
The Swan fleet was once again moored in Porto Cervo for The Nations League. Also present was the Mistral, blowing a hooley notably for the coastal race against the spectacular backdrop of Costa Smeralda which saw the three ClubSwan classes surging along in 20-plus knot winds on a flat sea. There was also a three-day inshore regatta which saw seven races completed in varied, often difficult conditions for the 28 teams. After four days of racing, Italy won the Nations Cup, edging out Germany by two
points, followed by Monaco. The Nations Cup was particularly memorable for the ClubSwan50 class with an excellent 3rd place for Leonardo Ferragamo’s Cuordileone with YCM’s Federico Michetti on board, and YCM’s Graeme Peterson’s Moonlight
winning the coastal race. In the cutting edge ClubSwan 36 class, Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio’s G-Spot, also from YCM, demonstrated yet again that he is a strong contender, winning four races: “I have to say that I’m happy because we won in very light
wind and did the coastal race in up to 30 knots which was really difficult for us,” he said. The ClubSwan Racing season continues with the Copa Del Rey Mapfre in Mallorca which starts 31st July.
