Optimist – succession assured

Coach Regatta – Marseille – 18-19 January 2020

Sunday 19^th January 2020. Eight sailors from the Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section were in Marseille for the 4^th Coach Regatta. The format is like that of the Monaco Optimist Academy which allows coaches to intervene and interact with their charges during the racing and attracted 130 competitors. It means sailors are competing for real, but able to focus on certain techniques. Lined up on the start in the older Benjamin category, the YCM’s youngsters did themselves proud over the five races run in ideal 5-15 knot Mistral conditions on the Saturday and an 8-12 knot northerly on the Sunday. Congratulations to Ludovica Bonelli who climbed up the ranking to clinch 3^rd place. Julian Choquenet finished 8^th,  Namu Van der Linden 12^th, Joachim de Tayrac 17^th, Alexander Pompée 24^th, Alessandro Asscher 27^th, Louise Debeaumont 35^th and Riccardo Gessa 49^th.
