Rolex Fastnet Race 2023
Friday 21st July 2023. Every two years, thousands of sailors dream of having this race on their calendar. This year 3,000 representing 32 nations are on the starting line of the 50th Rolex Fastnet Race. Aboard his Pulsar 50 Rayon Vert, Yacht Club de Monaco member Oren Nataf is there to fly the Principality’s colours high in this legendary race. A total of nearly 500 comprise the fleet including Ultim, IMOCA, Ocean Fifty, MOCRA multihulls and Class 40.3 boats. For the second time in its history the 695-nautical-mile British event will finish in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in France. Competitors will leave Cowes on Saturday 22nd July at 2.00pm to race along the south England coast past Devon and Cornwall, before setting course for the Fastnet Rock south-west of Ireland which they will round before the long leg back to Cherbourg. On the eve of the start, the weather forecast confirms tough conditions with a headwind gusting up to 40 knots and heavy seas.
