Drheam Cup – Trinité-sur-Mer – 13-24 July 2022
It took 2 days 2 hours 47 minutes for Rayon Vert helmed by YCM’s Oren Nataf to devour the 600 nautical miles of this race. “It was champagne sailing, always with wind and not too much sea! It was absolutely magical”. The emotion was palpable in the skipper’s voice after their double victory in this event, which he won alongside French sailor Sidney Gavignet. First in the Multi 2000 category but also the Scratch ahead of 111 competitors, the two sailors have reason to be proud of the results.
“We had quite a challenging last night with violent storms, including a 35-knot squall in the middle of a gybe, but everything went perfectly,” explains Oren Nataf. “This Drheam Cup has been a great training session. It’s a lovely course and we were able to push the boat to its limits”.
With a start in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and finish in Trinité-sur-Mer, this 4th Drheam Cup is also a qualifier event for the Route du Rhum. The legendary transatlantic starts 6th November from Saint-Malo and sees another YCM member competing, Boris Herrmann aboard his brand new IMOCA Malizia-Seaexplorer that’s just been launched.
