E-Sailing Autumn Championship
Tuesday 17th November 2020. The concept has come a long way since the first lockdown, with keen sailors flocking to digital race areas to compete in virtual regattas. The Yacht Club de Monaco is therefore riding a wave with its E-Sailing Autumn Championship on J/70s, which is not the first online regatta it has organised.
For all tastes
Open to all members, the YCM Autumn Championship takes participants into winter, allowing them to keep one foot in a boat and the other at home in compliance with health measures. All scenarios and conditions they would face at sea are in place, allowing everyone to work on their positioning on the start line, tactics and controlling opponents, so they can improve but without getting wet!
YCM embarks on Virtual Regatta Inshore
The Monegasque meeting kicks off on Sunday 22nd November at 5.30pm and comprises two phases: qualifiers (22nd, 29th November and 6th December at 5.30pm) and the finals (13th December at 6.30pm). Organised on Virtual Regatta Inshore, the Championship is governed by World Sailing’s Virtual Racing Rules of Sailing, with penalties taken at the time of the incident.
Friendly rivalry is the order of the day for these virtual races that allow sailors to keep their hand in and continue racing – just not on the water.
Registration is open up to 8.00pm on 21st November – just fill in the form on the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeWRktfLcRlPKT7ja9jqlOLzsCcr6FIOnQl1nXmmqsNpOkvGg/viewform?usp=sf_link
