Woman Leading and Sailing Trophy | 16-17 March 2024
Saturday 16th March 2024 – Part of its ongoing commitment to developing year-round sailing for everyone, Yacht Club de Monaco is organising its 2nd Woman Leading and Sailing Trophy. In a collaboration with the French and Monegasque Sailing Federations and partnerships with FxPro and Slam, the J/70 regatta is an all-female affair.
This latest initiative, driven by the dynamic Pink Wave, a large group of competitive YCM sailors formed five years ago, was a great success last year. For this 2024 edition, the event has grown with 20 teams representing 13 nations gathered in Monaco.
Successful kick-off
With ten boats on the water to race, military-precision was required to ensure all the heats were completed. Teams drew lots and only found out which boat they’d be racing on a few hours before the start. The first teams completed their races while the rest waited their turn in tenders nearby.
Seven-knots and a flat sea were enough to launch three races in quick succession for each group. For the second and final day, the fleet will be divided into two groups, gold and silver, alternating throughout the day in battles that look set to be equally tightly-fought.
First races on Sunday 17th March are scheduled to start 11.00am.
