YCM on the start of this Mediterranean classic
151 Miglia Trofeo Cetilar
30th May – 1st June
In the Italian sailing world, the 151 Miglia – Trofeo Cetilar symbolises a sports challenge par excellence. Open to all and laid out to test the teams strategic qualities to the limit, the event owes its success to the layout. The 151-mile course takes competitors from the Tyrrhenian coast to the Giraglia islet then to Elba island and Formiche di Grosseto with the finish line at Punta Ala. A semi-offshore race it is also famous and much appreciated for its duality: it is the ideal race for newcomers to offshore racing as they can sail along the coast for a large part of the race, and great for seasoned crews as it is technically and tactically challenging. This year Yacht Club de Monaco did well in the ORC category with Andrea Statari (Gorilla Gang XL) coming in 8th and an 11th place for Roberto Tamburelli (Rachistar).
