Dinghy – League Cup Finale – Cannes
1-2 June
The PACA dinghy championship (Ligue Voile Légère PACA) ended this weekend in Cannes. Several hundred sailors in 19 categories, including some 20 from Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section, made the trip with talented young sailors from the Principality pulling off some remarkable performances.
In ILCA 6, Noah Garcia dominated the competition, winning the event after six nail-biting races. Louise Debeaumont also had a great regatta, finishing 10th overall and 4th in the girls, while Gabriel Superina came 15th. In the older group in ILCA 7, Bodhi Van Der Linden also claimed outright victory, followed by Mathis Duplomb in 3rd. In ILCA 4, promising youngsters Roman Lampert, Antoine Sauval and Ennio Rostagni finished 17th, 25th and 31st respectively.
Once again YCM’s Optimist sailors stood out for their conduct on land as at sea, showing a cohesion and great team spirit that was to be envied. In the Minime category, Pietro Carlevaris ranked 7th and 3rd in the 2014 year group, followed by Joséphine Debbelaere 13th and 3rd girl, Louis Faivre 18th, and Jules Huon 27th. Victor Holst, Sacha Mousny, Victor Marquet and Julien Lampert came in 33rd, 34th, 42nd and 43rd respectively. In the Optimist Benjamin category, Océane Schroeder and Facundo Rubinelli were neck and neck in 33rd and 34th place out of 70 contestants while Frederik Holst and Ludovica Bonelli came 44th and 46th.
