Classics & Moderns – Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez – 24th September – 1st October
Saturday 1st October 2022. Once again the sailing world flocked to the Var for the annual Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez which for the first week saw classic yachts and modern boats up to 18.28m in action. A strong Mistral joined the party creating some tough conditions for racing, but not enough to unsettle contestants from Monaco. Many took advantage of the conditions to indulge in pure speed with Peter Harrison in the Moderns clinching an excellent 3rd place on Jolt 3. Among the classics, the results speak for themselves with Tuiga coming 4th in the Grand Tradition category, while Valter Pizzoli (Resolute Salmon) ranked 4th in Pierre Basset Trophy. Competing for the Torpez Trophy, Massimilio Ferruzi (Il Moro di Venezia) also finished 4th, with Steve McLaren’s magnificent Elena of London taking 5th in the Rolex Trophy.
