Optimist – International Spring Cup – Antibes | 20-24 April 2022

 

Sunday 24th April 2022. Every year the International Spring Cup gathers the cream of young sailors in the Optimist class and every year puts on a great competition. Held in Antibes, the event was a chance for all to express their potential in conditions ranging from 2 to 35 knots over the five days.  Both categories, Benjamin and Minime, managed 12 and 13 races respectively.

In the youngest group (Benjamin), the brilliant Alexandra Santelli from Yacht Club de Monaco clinched 4th place out of 90 entrants and came 2nd in the girls. Plunging in at the deep end for their first ever regatta were three of our youngsters, Océane Schroeder, Frederik Holst and Facundo Rubinelli.

In the older group (Minime), Ludovica Bonelli and Alexandre Pompée did well throughout the five days to win their places in the D1 ranking of the 80 best French sailors.
