“The fact that people who know the sea co-opt me and see some virtues in my films touches me deeply,” said Jacques Perrin on receiving the 2011 Personality of the Sea prize awarded by Yacht Club de Monaco. The Club had wanted to pay tribute to this filmmaker who was so committed to protecting the oceans and became a member of the YCM Explorers Club, launched in 2014.
