Navicap Challenge – Trophée Elena Sivoldaeva
1-3 December 2023
Friday 1st December 2023. The first day of the Navicap-Challenge – Trophée Elena Sivoldaeva got off to a flying start in a lovely southwesterly breeze. Organised by Yacht Club de Monaco, the regatta is already proving a success with around 30 teams from Spain, England, Italy, France, Switzerland and of course Monaco.
Hansa 303: sailing for all
Three days of racing aboard Hansa 303 boats are on the menu. Teams of two are racing in groups and are sailing on an equal footing thanks to this nifty dinghy which has been adapted for anyone to sail. Whether young, experienced, able bodied or with a disability, all profiles are represented at this event which aims to provide the ideal regatta where sharing and communication are essential. Last year, Yacht Club de Monaco also acquired two of these boats thanks to the generosity of Club member Elena Sivoldaeva.
A colourful event
Autumnal weather did not spoil the party in any way as the different coloured sails that filled the YCM Marina added to the festive feel. Weaving between the superyachts, the Hansa 303 fleet were put through their paces all afternoon with a succession of starts being given at the foot of the YCM. At the end of the first day, the pair Alessandra Cappellu and Cristina Maria Atzori top the provisional ranking after three races.
Rendezvous again tomorrow Saturday 2nd December at 11.00am for the first race of the day.
